The Findus Group has welcomed the FSA’s decision yesterday to restate
its ‘eat two portions of fish a week for health’ advice and to update
it by adding a ‘choose responsibly sourced’ message.
Director
of sustainability, James Turton, says, “We are delighted that the FSA
has confirmed its commitment to the health benefits of eating fish
twice a week and particularly welcome the addition of advice on
sustainability.”
He continues, “The FSA’s advice chimes
perfectly with our own position that it is possible to balance the Two
a Week recommendation with a commitment to sustainable seafood and we
continue to promote both issues to consumers through our products.”
The
Findus Group has a longstanding commitment to sustainable fisheries and
sources all its own fish according to strict responsible sourcing
criteria under its award-winning ‘Fish for Life’ programme. In the UK
consumers can find Fish for Life highlighted on every Young’s Seafood
product.
The Findus Group is parent in the UK to the Young’s
Seafood brand and own label producer, The Seafood Company, as well as
the wider Findus frozen food brand in Europe.
